ms i dont really understnad the sheet question 2a :what is the energy efficiency ratio of this air conditioner; how do we find out the ratio?

If you are talking about the Energuide worksheet, it gives you all the answers in the pictures above it. I believe the answer you are looking for is 10.5 (I don't have the worksheet with me so the number could be slightly different)

Hi Ms.Wiens, it's Ana.

for my FSE i am doing an expiriment on how the length and the thickness of the wire affect the brightness of the lightbulb. Is this a good expiriment to do? Or do you think i should add more, like the different types of wire, like comparing the silver, copper and bronze wires and how they affect the lightbulb?

You will need a device to measure and get some quantitative data (numbers and units) the relative comonents in the circuit versus just saying the bulb is bright or more bright (qualitative data). You will need an ammeter and/or a multimeter to measure current and resistance.

You can either do thicknesses of the same kind of wire (example different guages of copper wire) or do different materials of all the same thickness - so that you only have one independent variable - wire thickness OR wire type.

You can do the experiment at lunch if you want too and use the school equipment - the only thing we don't have is different gauges or different types of wires - you would need to bring those in yourself (about 1 inch of each one you are testing) and then you could use everything else you need.

Thank you Ms. Wiens! I have one more question. If I were to hand in my lab on Tuesday, would you be able to hand it back to me before the break?

MsWiens said...

Most likely - provided everyone else isn't planning on doing the same.

Ms.Wiens I'm wondering if we move to our highschool side tomorrow (tues/20/11) will we be postponing the test to thursday yes or no?
