Wednesday

Today was the last regular class day of the semester!
For your exam you need
1. A pen, pencil, eraser.
2. A Scientific Calculator (NOT your phone).
3. A book to read in case you finish early.
Be sure to sleep well the night before and eat a good breakfast the morning of your exam.

Period 2
More Review Questions in class on board
Index Cards
Ms. Wiens was available to answer questions and help students learn/relearn how to use their calculators for the final exam
See you on Friday!

Period 3
List of all topics on the exam written on the board
Students (with teacher support) recycled what they didn't need in their notebooks and kept the rest
See you on Monday!

Period 4

sorry ms one last question what is bioamplfication and bioaccumulation?

Truman Z said...

also ms can i barrow the textbook for tomorrow? i'll return it before exam start!

Superscript is a number up high (I can't make them in this comment section) and represents the combining capacity, a subscript is the small number to the right of an element that tells you how many atoms of that element there are.

Yes, the material/concepts on the exam review page are going to be on the period 2 and/or period 4 final exam.

Yes for the textbook.

Bioaccumulation is when a substance (usually nasty chemical) builds up in large amounts in one organism during their lifetime.
Bioamplication is the increase in toxins as you move up the food chain.

ms what is electrical efficiency?

Hi Ms. Wiens, i was just doing the reviews that you had up on the blog, and as i was doing the chemistry reveiw i came across some questions about calculating density, etc. We were never taught that in class, so I'm not sure about it...

You will not have to calculate density just know it is a physical property relating to the amount of mass per unit volume of a substance. I thought we would get enough time to learn it but we did not and the calculation questions (although relatively straightforward) will not be on the final exam.

Electrical efficiency is the amount of energy (in joules) a substances puts out (produces) divided by the amount that is uses (goes in to it) multiplied by 100% so it is expressed as a percentage.

the coefficient is the number that is in front of a compound and multiplies each elemet by that number
am i correct?

MsWiens said...

Yes.

What is the definition of a watt?
Is it the same thing as kilowatt?

TVA said...

do we need to know impacts of native species, and competion, predation, commensalism, and parasitsm

MsWiens said...

a kilowatt is 1000 watts

you need to know about native versus non-native and invasive species but not parasitism or commensalism

for exploration of Mars, do i just need to know what evidence there was that scientists thought there was life on mars?

TVA said...

do we need to know static and current electricity?

MsWiens said...

Yes you need to know about Static and Current Electricity. Yes, you should know in general terms about Mars Exploration - when, why, results, etc.
