For the timeline, did Democritus discover the atom or did Aristotle make his theory first? The text book says that Aristotle made his theory first, which doesn't make sense because he disagreed when Democritus came up with his theory. Also, I looked it up online and the information I found said that Democritus made his theory first, so which one should be first in my timeline?

Democritus did not "discover" the atom, though he did come up with ideas about it. Democritus came before Aristotle. The textbook is a bit messed up with dates, though they are generally in the same order as it is written. The reason being the date they began researching is not always the date that they published (let the world know about) their research and your textbook isn't perfect.
