Families on the Periodic Table - coloured periodic table to highlight alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, transition metals, halogens, noble gases, lanthanides, and actinides, THEN wrote down the properties of the alkali metals (from note on board), alkaline earth metals, halogens and noble gases (last 3 from textbook reading).
